Adele Flips the Bird at Brit Awards

Adele recently showed her sassy side this past Tuesday night at the Brit Awards when she flashed her middle finger. When Adele took the stage to accept her second award for that night, for Album of the Year, she was then interrupted by that night's host, actor James Corden who was ready to go ahead and introduce Blur, who were to perform right after Adele had accepted her award. "Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year." Said Adele to the audience as then Corden stepped onstage next to Adele to excuse her. His appearance onstage was then reportedly booed. "Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I'll see you next time round?" Adele asked Corden right before flipping him off which then caused to room to cheer loudly. After the interruption had happened, the rep for the Brits Awards had said that "The Brits are a live event. The program was overrunning and we had to move on. We would like to apologize to Adele for the interruption." As for Adele, she kind of apologized after the broadcast. "They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me." As for Adele's gesture at the Brit Awards, it makes it the second time this month that the middle finger has been in the news. Other time during the Super Bowl during Madonna's performance. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1679658/adele-brit-awards-middle-finger.jhtml

Convicted Serial Killer's Map Leads Cops to Several Different Burial Sites

Recently discovered, a map drawn by a serial killer has led authorities in California to three separate burial sites, where the discovery of human remains could bring an end to several missing persons cases. Investigators recovered over 300 human bones, in a rural land in northern California. The search and research for these cases are still continuing. Near San Francisco, a map drawn by a convicted killer Wesley Shermantine who was part of a methamphetamine-fueled violence made them known as "Speed Freak Killers". Shermantine says that there might be more than 10 more victims in the area. The remains of these bones were found 45 feet deep   in a well on an abandoned cattle ranch.

Sexy Super Bowl Commercials Cause Controversy

The NFL already had to apologize for M.I.A's inappropriate gesture at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but that isn't the only thing that had parents group up in anger. This year's commercials during the Super Bowl seemed to be "more racy and sexual than ever" according to The Parents Television Council. Some of the more sexy and racy commercials were the Teleflora ad promising that your girlfriend will do anything you want if you order her some flowers, a Toyota Camry ad featuring a couch made up of a bunch of models dressed up in lingerie, as well as a Fiat commercial where a model seduces a man on the street while she has foam from a drink dripping down her chest. Although it wasn't just the women baring it all. In the Camry ad, there were several men in speedos being used as seating, as well as the H&M ad which had a topless David Beckham showing it all off wearing only a tight pair of small underwear. However, the second most popular commercial during the Super Bowl was the shirtless Beckham commercial according to the Brand Bowl 2012. Many people have commented on this years commercials in negative ways such as: "There were many spots that parents will be offended by. The Super Bowl is such a big deal because it is regarded as a family event." and "The NFL and their broadcast partners are running a serious risk here with their brand. At some point they are going to lose the cachet of the Super Bowl being appropriate for families."

Dozens Freeze to Death in Europe

With the severe coldness and amount of snow, this cold front in Europe has killed at least 48 people across central and eastern Europe. Officials in charge have responded to this by opening shelters to the people to dispense hot tea, and for a warm place to stay for the homeless and elderly. Ukrainian authorities have announced that each day this cold front continues, more and more people are still dying each day due to hypothermia. The Emergency Situations Ministry have also reported that most people found dead were found frozen in the streets. As the temperatures have dropped to -10 degrees Fahrenheit and lower, many schools have closed for the time being as authorities continue to set up hundreds of heated tents for the homeless, elderly, and public. Officials strongly recommend for people to stay indoors.

Wikipedia Goes Dark

U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could damage the use of the free and open internet. For 24 hours on January 18 2012, in order to raise awareness, Wikipedia blacked out their website. On Google's website, they put a piece of black tape across the word "Google" on Google's home page. This is all done to support the Stop Online Piracy Act. This comes across as a big deal without having the use of Wikipedia, since most students and about 53 percent of all adult internet users in the United States goes to Wikipedia for research. Wikipedia along with other websites have blacked out their websites to stop online piracy so that everyone will be able to get credit for their own work, instead of it getting stolen.

Miss Wisconsin Crowned Miss America 2012

Laura Kaeppeler, Miss Wisconsin, was recently crowned Miss America 2012 during the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. Laura Kaeppeler also won a $50,000 dollar scholarship with a year long term with the crown. Kaeppeler's platform during the competition was supporting children who have or have had incarcerated parents. Answering her question of whether beauty queens should declare their political views or not, Kaeppeler responded with the strong answer of "Miss America should represent everyone. The message to political candidates is that they should represent everyone as well. And so in these economic times, we need to be looking forward in what America needs, and I think Miss America needs to represent all."
