NAIA Swimming Champion Drowns

   Champion swimmer from Oklahoma Baptist University Ivan Maciuniak, died March 9th after after swimming with teammates at the college pool. 22 year old freshman at the school in Shawnee, died from going underwater while failing to resurface. According to those at the school, Ivan was swimming when he went underwater. He was pulled from the pool and CPR was given. Once the paramedics arrived they transported him to the nearest hospital. Ivan was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital. School officials are still waiting for more information about his death, but for now they are referring to his death as an accident. A week before his death, Ivan was a member of the men's 4*400-meter relay team which his performance helped bring his school to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship. Maciuniak has sent multiple school records for his swim times.
